Uniforms donated to 4 children at Smutsville Sedgefield Primary School
Donated by Carol van Zyl at A Centre that Serves, David and Inx Winde, and Cleone Vanston
On behalf of the learners, we the staff of Smutsville Sedgefield Primary would like to thank the donors of the school clothes.
We were really overwhelmed by the gesture and it warmed our hearts to see that good still exist in the world.
The four learners, Micayla, Michael and Abigail (Leroy was absent on the day of the photo) were speechless when the clothes were handed to them. They even asked, when I told them they must put it on, if they can keep it.
These learners are very close to my heart, as their circumstances are not so good, but still they manage to get to school everyday and are able to put a smile on their faces.
This gestures also proves to them that they are not alone in the world, and that there are people who care about them.
Once again, thank you very much for your kindness. We really appreciate it.
I would like to say a very BIG THANK YOU for your donation in aid of our library....

We will keep you up to date with our progress and will not forget to mention you when we have our official opening .....

New Fund raising activity by Youngstown State University students
Wear a bracelet and help a child’s education become a reality
6 bracelets will fund the education and feed one child a day for one year
PLATW will be selling these Alex and Ani style bracelets. They're $30 and all proceeds go towards South African student's needs. For every 4 sold, we will "adopt" a child for a year. The child will be able to attend school, have one meal per day guaranteed, receive a uniform, and receive school supplies.
Additionally, we will meet the kids we adopted while on our trip in May. If you wish to purchase one, please click on DONATE button. Thank you!!
Please purchase a bracelet to help the children of South Africa who truly inspire, appreciate, and are hungry to learn.
80% of the children in adopted schools have AIDS, TB and many have lost one or both parents to AIDS. Many of the children were homeless. Food is limited and the villagers often cook one pot of porridge for the children, which might be their only meal of the day.
PLATW assists schools where there are:
1 pencil for 5 children,
Crowded classrooms with no books or educational supplies,
Playgrounds with only dirt-- no equipment or balls to play with,
Help children who had lost their parents due to AIDS,
Several are hungry and have been medically diagnosed with TB.
Each year individuals associated with Project Learning Around the World gather and hand deliver school supplies, reading books, or small equipment to various South African township schools.
Education is the avenue that will help:
Lead them out of their informal townships,
Their daily pains of hunger,
And, hopefully enhance their health,
and living conditions
PLATW is a small charity and its activities has truly impacted the lives of many, at all educational levels
To assist educational personnel PLATW has funded a number of projects:
Building of libraries and playgrounds
Building of playground equipment in empty school yards
Purchasing books for grades k-graduate level courses
Opening of a soup kitchen so children and disabled are guaranteed one meal a week
Adoption of a child’s education so they can attend pre-school for two years
We are looking for monetary contributions to help purchase:
All monies donated will go directly to purchasing equipment, textbooks or supplies for rural township schools in South Africa and other developing countries.
Thank-you for your willingness to support this project.
PLATW is not about the charity but the children.
